On March 7, the Qatar Music Academy (QMA) hosted a virtual masterclass featuring Dr. Katy Ambrose, professor of horn at the University of Iowa in the United States. This exceptional event provided a platform for QMA horn students Batuhan Sireli, Aaron Rozario, and Lily Schnurman to showcase their talent and receive invaluable insights from Dr. Ambrose.

Each student expressed their gratitude and shared their personal insights from the masterclass:

Lily Schnurman reflected on the experience, stating, "I had an amazing time at the horn master class. Through the advice of Dr. Ambrose, I learned how to change my sound based on vowels, which I found very interesting. Additionally, I learned to separate the different phrases of the music through breathing, creating a more connected piece. The feedback I received has improved my playing, as I have been incorporating it into my practice."

Aaron Rozario described the session as a valuable experience, particularly as a former trumpet player transitioning to the horn. He remarked, "Dr. Ambrose very kindly gave us valuable pieces of advice ranging from specific advice on the piece we played to more general advice, crucial in greatly improving the qualities of our playing. Her advice was as easy to understand as it was powerful and helpful. I will definitely be taking her words to heart in my future horn endeavors and will use her advice to strengthen my playing going forward."

Batuhan Sireli emphasized the learning experience of the masterclass, stating, "Dr. Ambrose helped me with my articulation while still being able to be entertaining. The masterclass helped me in areas that I already struggled with in an easy, digestible way for me to understand easier. It was a very good time, and I enjoyed it very much; I hope we can do it again. I am grateful to Miss Rachel Seay and QMA for allowing me to have this experience."
