Music therapy plan for rehab patients

The Hamad Medical Corporation and Qatar Music Academy are jointly planning to establish a programme that will incorporate and promote music as a rehabilitation therapy for those patients suffering from cognitive, physical and psychological problems, it is learnt. The HMC, which has some three-quarters of rehabilitation patients suffering from cognitive problems and can be assisted with music therapy, will recruit specialist music therapists, who will apply the new technique to all patients in need of rehab.
HMC, QMA bring music therapy session to Doha

THE Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has collaborated with the Qatar Music Academy (QMA), a member of the Qatar Foundation, in bringing a music therapy programme to Qatar. As part of its plan to promote the concept of music therapy to the residents in Doha, the HMC will soon recruit music therapists and is likely to begin the services by next year. QMA will hold music therapy sessions and will be responsible for the training of potential music therapists in the country.
