Hossam Haggag

Haggag as born in 1975 in Kuwait. In 1992 he moved to Cairo and joined the Cairo Conservatoire.

In 2000 he obtained a Bachelors Degree and a post graduate diploma with "Excellent with honours".

2004 saw him win a scholership to study at the Music Academy of the Staats Opera in Berlin, later he joined the Berliner High school of music "Hanns Eisler".

In 2007 he sucsessfully finished his Diploma and continued his studies at "Franz List Music High School"in Weimer to obtain a post grauate Diploma in 2008.

Hossam studied with many international teachers such as Robert Kassinger " Chicago symphony" in USA,
Prof. Barbara Sanderling and Prof. Horst Wenkel in Germany as well as others.

1997 started his professional career at Cairo Symphony Orchestra until 2004 as he became the leader of the double bass section.

Hossam participated in several international music fistivals for orchestral and chamber music world wide, and performed chamber music concerts with the internationally known great conductor and pianist Mr. Daniel Barenboim and members of the staats opera Berlin in Paris and Istanbul playing Schubert quintet " The Trout"

Hossam played for the West Eastern Divan Orchestra since 1998 until 2008 as principal double bass, with the Orchestra conducted by Mr.Daniel Barenboim.

During the last few years,he played and recorded with several European Orchestras such as "WDR symphony Orchestra" in köln, "Justav Mahler" orch. conducted by the great conductor Mr.Claudio Abbado, and many other ensembles.

In 2008 he joined the Qatar philharmonic Orchestra and he is the resident double bass teacher at Qatar Music Academy.
