Aydan Alakbarova was born in Baku, Azerbaijan where she had her first piano lessons with her mother at the age of six. At the age of seven, she began her music studies at the specialized music elementary school of Baku. In 1994 she moved to Syria with her parents and continued her musical education at the Sulhi Alwadi Music Institute where she studied with Russian pianist Prof. Victor Bunin.
After being admitted to the High Music Institute of Damascus at the age of 18, Aydan specialised in piano in the class of Profs. V. Bunin and Cynthia Al Wadi. At this time, Aydan also began the organ under the supervision of Russian organist Prof. Alexey Schmitov. During her studies in Damascus, Aydan often participated in concerts both as soloist and accompanist. Her fast development as an organist also led to numerous organ recitals at the Opera House and other venues in Damascus.
After graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Music, Aydan travelled to Vienna, Austria to pursue further studies in music. She was admitted to the Konservatorium there as a student of Mag. Michael Gailit. Under his supervision, she graduated with her second degree in piano and organ. During her time there, she actively concertised in Vienna, and participated in yearly concert tours in Germany and Belgium.
